Below shows how much quicker FFD denoising is compared to standard blender denoising. Note you need over 5x the sample rate!

Why is flicker problematic for animation?

When running standard denoisers produce a unusable flickering effect. This gives you 2 options, either don't use a denoiser and wait up 20x longer for renders or try to balance unusable flicker with lower sample counts. Both are far from ideal, especially when your client is breathing down your neck!

Below is a comparison of standard blender denoising and FFD denoising. Note how even after 15 samples the flicker is almost completely gone.

CURRENT LIMITATIONS

• Designed to run on Blender 4.0
• The output path needs to be set to an empty folder.
• You have to render all frames in the timeline else it confuses the denoiser.
• The UI will freeze when the denoiser is running.
